[ Is there no place where XiChen doesn't look like he belongs? His careful steps over snow and ice look completely natural. Somehow this cold weather seems to suit him more.
MingJue pulls the jack out of his bag and holds it out to help XiChen into it. There's a spare helmet strapped on the back, as well. ]

[ Sideways look as he turns to face Nie MingJue, zipping up the jacket. Ready to climb up on the bike without delaying, but now that the night air isn't sucking the heat out of him as badly, he can enjoy the sight and presence of his eldest brother more fully, his joy unconcealed. ]
[ He will just wrap himself around Nie MingJue's back, smiling against the leather-clad shoulder while hiding his face away from the forthcoming chilly wind.
Between the coat and the warm body shielding him, he is rather looking forward to the ride. ]
With XiChen's arms around him, he speeds off in to the night, away from whatever out-of-control even he'd found himself (and his poor coat stranded at). He's definitely driving faster a little faster than he should, but the streets are empty and the night is cold. It's not long before they arrive at their destination, the bike going still and quiet around the back of MingJue's home.
He pats XiChen's arms to signal for him to dismount and head inside. ]

[ And he steps away - but only after rising to his tip-toes to press a feather-light kiss to Nie MingJue's cheek, wordless thanks that his eldest brother doesn't need to think too much about.
When he comes back into the kitchen in a little bit, he's barefoot, wearing a pair of drawstring pants and a hoodie that are incredibly baggy on him but he seems so very comfortable in them. And he moves to help if there is anything left to do without asking, even if it is just laying out the cups for the tea to be poured into. ]
[ He isn't surprised when XiChen returns to the kitchen. The way his clothes hag off XiChen's smaller frame is familiar. It's almost odd when he's not sitting at that table, looking nearly ridiculous in the over-large clothes. A whisp of a smile darts of MingJue's face.
Thanks to the electric kettle, the greatest invention of modern history, the tea is almost ready when XiChen begins laying out the table. A faint aroma of jasmine wafts from the pot as he brings it to the table. ]
Are you? Perhaps a little. There was... too much caviar.
[ He's settled and curled up a little into the kitchen chair, one knee under his chin and snuggled into the larger clothes in a posture that ... almost no one else ever sees the President of the Lan Company in. Long fingers curled around the tea cup. ]
[ Now that they are in from the cold, MingJue isn't inclined to go back out. He pours the tea first into his guest's cup and then his own. ]
There are a few places nearby that deliver. One has an excellent vegetarian selection. Or if you'd rather something lighter than a meal I'm sure we can find something to pass as snacks.
[ XiChen smiles warmly before he raises his cup to take a sip of the tea, soft eyes on Nie MingJue as he considers just how well the older man knows him and how considerate he is of him, in so many ways; his heart overflowing. ]
And that sounds wonderful. I would like something simple - like a fried rice. Easy to find, wherever you might like something you want from.
[ XiChen would offer to do cooking himself, but they both know better. Much, much better. ]
[ He simply nods and pulls out his mobile. A few taps later, their food is ordered and on the way. An order of vegetarian fried rice for XiChen, beef chow fun with Chinese broccoli for himself. It's a little heavy for a late night meal, but well balanced. ]
It should be here in about fifteen minutes.
[ He glances at his phone and sighs. ]
HuaiSang should be home tomorrow, sometime. I'm sure he'd like to see you.

He returns in a similar state as XiChen: bare-footed and in drawstring pants. The only difference is the sleeveless a-shirt instead of something warmer, just as clingy as his last shirt, but baring his arms in all their toned glory.
MingJue returns to his seat, topping off XiChen's tea without prompting. ]
[ XiChen's eyes light up when da ge returns, first on his face, then briefly down to those gorgeous shoulders and following a bit down one glorious arm before he catches himself (or he'll start blushing - pale skin does have its drawbacks) and sighs happily inside. Likely not the intent, but the sight is very pleasing.
Then he smiles again, from the resting serene expression. ]
He is well, thank you. A little concerned about ... some things, but perhaps he worries overmuch and should use his words, instead. But nothing worth worrying has happened, I don't think.
[ It's not that XiChen can't wax on WangJi's accomplishments, because he certainly can, but a. it might get Nie MingJue angry on behalf of Nie HuaiSang, and b. ... it would be simply repeating what they both already know, so rather useless. ]

[ Indeed, WangJi is an accomplished young man. He strikes MingJue as the sort who is keenly intelligent, well-read, but has a difficult time interacting with others outside of very specific situations and roles. He also has the family’s good-looks, no wonder his struggles are matters of the heart. ]

They are... rather different. And it's sometimes difficult to not misinterpret WangJi's reactions as far colder than they actually are. But I know his heart, and I know he believes the other party is worth it, so I can only hope it will work out.
[ MingJue follows the droop of XiChen's lash, leading his eyes to the other man's lips just as his tongue passes across them. Warmth rushes to his skin and he hides any odd expression he may be making by bowing his head in a nod. ]
